Weird Internet - Privacy Policy

Personal data we collect

  1. Email address
  2. Phone number
  3. IP Address
  4. Payment Information
  5. Connection Information

How that data is used

  1. We use your Email address to verify your identity, and to contact you, if needed. If you use social media to login, your email address will be only required personal data sent back to us.
  2. We use your IP Address for 3 purposes
    1. So you can verify logins (ie, a security audit trail)
    2. During multiplayer scenes, we need your IP to be able to send you game data from other players
    3. During peer-to-peer communication such as voice chat between players (an optional feature), players computers communicate directly with each other via their known IP addresses
  3. Payment Information - We only collect payment information for the purposes of the subscription transaction and do NOT retain that information. Subscriptions must be done every 12 months manually because we do not retain this information. We also will NOT be collecting any "in-game" payments.
  4. Connection Information - this will be used if we ever need to identify people that need to be contacted because they were connected during a period when any specific incidence occurs that either makes us feel like we should contact you, and/or are required to do so by law.

Personal Data Security

We work to ensure security of your personal data even though we don't collect much. Transfers across the network will be done over a secure network connection using Secure Socket Layers technology (SSL). Data storage of private information including Phone Number, and IP Address will be stored in an encrypted field in the database, however, email will remain unencrypted because that's an identifier for the account, and, while unlikely, there is a possibly of losing an encryption key or passphrase, at which point, we'd be out of business if we couldn't contact our customers via email, so we need to keep this one unencrypted, but we're also not giving it out other than information needed for payment gateways and processors related to your subscription payment information.

Change Notifications

Upon changes to this Privacy Policy, we will inform you via 2 methods: 1) An email will be generated notifying you of the changes, 2) A form will be presented after logging in to your account to let you know, and present you with a link to the updated Privacy Policy which you can find a link to at the bottom of every page of the website.

Data Sharing

We will only share information for the purposes of completing our services to you, but we will not sell or give your information for those seeking to collect information on a person or persons. For example, if and when we add "two-factor authentication", we may need to send some information like your email address or phone number through a third-party service in order for it to work. If and when we need to share this contact information with third-parties, we will inform the consumers of the service.

Peer-to-peer network communication and Security

Certain game play operations may make use of "Peer-to-peer" network technology (P2P) whereby 2 players communicate directly between their computers without the data going through a central server. In this case, the IP address of each player is exposed to the other player's computer. The other players IP address can be viewed using network traffic sniffer tools. This could represent some degree of security concern for a player. Because of this, we will display a notice about security whenever you use a feature that uses P2P (peer-to-peer) network technology, such as voice chat. The notice will also recommend that you only use features that use P2P technology with other players that you trust.

Payment Information

Payments will be able to be made via 2 options. Either directly on this site, in which case we send payment data to the gateway, and the gateway sends to the payment processor. This transfer of data (to complete your payment) is done over a secure connection.

Cookies

Cookies will be used during a logged in session to keep track of your login, and present you with information relevant to you and your account. This will be just a "session identifier". If this ever changes, we'll update this policy.

Accessing your data

Once the website is live, you'll be able to access the data in the top right of the screen under Account settings in the menu. This will allow you to update your Email address, phone number, your username, and/or your password.
